Isla's Story
At 16 months old
our daughter Isla
was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma.
Overnight our family were thrown into the world of childhood cancer.
Isla deteriorated rapidly.
Unable to breathe on her own, she was intubated and spent significant time sedated in the
Intensive Care Unit.
Isla's first round of chemo resulted in a 15% reduction of her tumour. She was slowly weaned out of sedation.
Isla continued her battle.
She reached a point within her treatment where she required Proton Radiation Therapy.
This would require our family to relocate 4,000 miles to Jacksonville for 2 months.
14 rounds of chemo & 31 doses of radiation later we got the best news:
"Our girl was in remission!"
Each one of these beads represents Isla's journey.
The numerous hospital stays, chemotherapy, radiation, blood tests, hair loss, sickness drugs, blood transfusions...
...the list goes on.
Isla rang the end of treatment bell on
5th March 2019.
She continues to do well and is taking on every obstacle like a champion.
On the same day, we founded Patchwork.
